Blythedale Coastal Adventure Market - Keeps Getting Better

2019-03-01

On the first Sunday of every month, you can be a part of the most epic market on the North Coast. If you’re a casual marketgoer, you and your family will love the interesting vendors and delicious food, in by far the most beautiful market setting in South Africa.

Investors can also use this as an opportunity to view the remaining properties on offer at the stunning Blythedale Coastal Estate. The market and associated events are completely free to enter.

The Blythedale Coastal Adventure Market (BCAM) is set on the pristine North Coast in Blythedale and boasts some of the most breathtaking views, coupled with an indigenous forest surrounding and crystal
blue oceans on its doorstep.

Markets are taking place monthly, with a different twist every time. The themed monthly activation of the Blythedale Coastal Adventure Market uncorked with the launch of the Blythedale Wine Experience, sponsored by KWV.

Over 2500 people and 70 vendors took part in the Wine Experience. Guests were treated to tasters of KWV’s famous vintages. While enjoying the wine, the talented duo 2 Unique entertained the crowd with some classic covers of a wide range of rousing music, including R&B, soft rock, reggae and jazz.

Entertainment is a key part of this adventure market, and interesting artists display their musical talent on the first Sunday of every month. The all-inclusive beach bar is set under the eaves of the coastal forest, right on the edge of the beach. The Beach Bar features live music from the talented Milton, the resident acoustic guitarist, with local distilleries and breweries showcasing their products weekly. Food services are run from the marquee and extend to the very edge of the beach.

The following is a schedule for the next few markets, each with their unique added twist:
1. 3rd of March - Andrew Young Concert and Gin Experience
2. 6th & 7th of April â€" Toys for Boys and Movie Experience
3. 5th of May â€" Mexican Fiesta Cinco de Mayo

The hillside marquee has been dubbed “The Seaview Bar”, and it’s here that the sophisticated KWV Cruxland Gin takes centre-stage. It’s a perfect accompaniment to the main musical act, saxophonist Andrew Young. This artist enjoys international acclaim, and has toured countries throughout Europe, Africa, the Caribbean, and the Far East. In South Africa, he undertakes a yearly Coast to Coast Tour.

Andrew has toured and performed with the likes of Joseph Shabalala (Ladysmith Black Mambazo), Jonathan Butler, Shakatak, Shirley Bassey, James Galway as well as American R+B artist Keith Washington and a Tour of Austria with Dionne Warwick.

If gin is not to your taste, don’t worry. Craft beverages are in vogue, and the market offers a great selection of beers, spirits and cocktails, perfect for the discerning drinker.

Guests will be spoilt for choice, with over 30 unique food stalls supplying a whole host of exotic scents and fanciful flavours to whet the appetite.

One can figuratively traverse the globe when sampling dishes from India, Mauritius, China, Italy, Greece, Mexico, and the Middle East. The crafts on show will catch the eye, and could certainly make good gifts
for somebody looking to treat themselves.

For those feeling extraadventurous, one of the most recent additions to the market space is the Blythedale Campsite. It’s called a campsite, but this venue is essentially for glamping. The tents come with two single beds and a dressing table, with full access to barista-quality beverages at the coffee shop. Full bathroom facilities are accessible, and the showers even have hot water.

The campsite is open Friday and Saturday every week, and the costs are R500 per tent per night, equating to R250 per person. Email bron@elan.co.za for more information.

The Blythedale Coastal Estate is situated in a prime location, 25 minutes north of King Shaka International Airport and 15 minutes north of Ballito, set within the thriving KZN North Coast region. The Market has full beach access, as well as over 70km of adventure-fuelled running and mountain bike trails.

BCAM enjoys an average rating of 4.5/5 on Facebook, with many happy marketgoers testifying as to its entertainment value. One Facebook reviewer said, “The atmosphere, being with friendly people and a choice of delicious foods... kids had an awesome time on water slides and four wheelers. Just fun and most important of all it was safe.”

Don’t forget to bookmark these monthly market events. They just keep getting better, and provide an incredible opportunity to visit one of the most beautiful market settings in South Africa. Bring your family and friends and spend a festive day out at the most epic market on the North Coast.
