GUD is the largest producer of automotive and heavy-duty oil and fuel filters in South Africa. Entering the South African market in 1950, it started manufacturing filters in Ordinance Road, in Durban, in 1969. The factory and head office is now based in Isipingo, Durban, with distribution centres in Mahogany Ridge, Cape Town and Johannesburg.

The company has established export markets in Australia, Germany, the US, Canada, Brazil, Chile and sub-Saharan Africa and also manufactures filters under original-equipment brand names for most South African vehicle manufacturers.
