Group Five KwaZulu-Natal Pty (Ltd) was formed in July 2002 through a merger between Group Five Building East and Group Five Civils Coastal. The merger created a general contractor that could undertake civils, building and roads projects.

To remain competitive, we continually evaluate how we operate.We are currently implementing a programme to ensure consistency in all aspects of our business processes, called the Group Five Way. This will ensure that we align behaviour and the way we work, which is crucial in building customer relationships and delivering on market expectations.
Group Five KwaZulu-Natal is committed to quality assurance and maintains DEKRA ISO certifications for 9001 (quality) and ISO 18001 (safety). The business is currently working towards an ISO 14001 (environmental) certification. In its support of 'greening' South Africa, Group Five has become a Gold Founding Member of the newly formed Green Building Council of South Africa, a non-profit organisation that encourages South Africans to design energy efficient buildings and has provided a benchmark rating tool to measure the sustainability or 'greenness' of a building.

Group Five is committed to social transformation and economic upliftment for all. We are very aware of our potential to assist with developing and uplifting the communities in which we work. In terms of our social economic development policy, we have been involved in several projects.
These include:

Officially registering the Vumelani Abantwane Crèche in Newlands East with the Department of Social Welfare. We have provided a play, ablution and educational area for 40 community pre-school children. We provide educational toys and material and staple food monthly.

In a joint initiative with eThekweni Health and I Care,Group Five trained in bricklaying and shuttering, 23 homeless people who were rehabilitated with I Care. All 23 of these men were employed with Group Five, 13 of them on the Moses Mabhida Stadium.

Whizz Kids, a school caring for disabled children in Pinetown was provided with gross motor play equipment. Repairs and improvements to the safety and access facilities was carried out for the school.

A number of bicycles were donated to Project O, an initiative to support Aids orphans in the Valley of a Thousand Hills. The project aims to have the first fully self-sufficient children's home in the world.

Group Five KZN and the JV Partners at the Moses Mabhida Stadium make a substantial monthly donation to the Reach for a Dream Foundation, which seeks to fulfill dreams of terminally ill children.

Victims of Xenophobia were assisted with temporary relief in the form of blankets and mattresses during the 2008 Xenophobic attacks.

KZN South Coast flood victims (June 2008) were assisted with a donation made to the Red Cross Foundation to assist with food and other relief needed.

Group Five participates in and supports many educational programmes too, such as the National Maths and Science Project competition, the SAICE Bridge Building Competition, and more recently, we have embarked on a project assisting George Campbell High School with an additional practical engineering facility.
