NCP Alcohols manufactures and markets high-quality ethanol, produced from sugar- cane molasses, for the South African and international cosmetic, pharmaceutical and beverage markets. NCP has an enviable status as the preferred supplier to the majority of the South African operations of global liquor companies, where it has in excess of 60% of the market share. In addition,NCP's status as the supplier of choice to many international companies has continued for in excess of 20 years.
Consequently it is not surprising that NCP's operation is centred around a passionate commitment and focus to quality. All products are manufactured at its site under the strictest control measures and the company complies with the ISO 9000 quality and ISO 14001 environmental management systems and have been accredited for HACCP certification this year.
NCP was awarded the Monde Selection's most prestigious quality award in 2007: the Special 25YearTrophy, at the International Monde Selection. The trophy is awarded to companies that have obtained a grand gold medal with palm leaves or a gold medal for 25 consecutive years and NCP Alcohols is the only neutral alcohol producer in the world that has ever been honoured with this award.
According to Peter Starling, Managing Director of NCP, "NCP Alcohols are proud of our long association with Monde Selection. We value the role that the organization has played as a professional, independent arbiter of quality standards for more than four decades, establishing a global quality ranking scale where our product can be assessed and compared to other producers from across the globe. Our extra neutral potable ethanol has become internationally recognized by industry as the quality benchmark, supported by the winning of these awards".
This year, the company's extra neutral potable ethanol 95,5% was awarded a grand gold medal and its Light Spirit 43% a gold medal at the annual Monde 2008 World Quality Selections. 'This is our second consecutive Grand Gold and all credit is given to NCP's staff, and in particular our operational team,' says Ace Govender,Quality Leader. "Our Light Spirit has once again awarded a gold medal which now firmly establishes it as quality option in light rum beverages".
Building LongTerm Relationships
As the success of its clients reflects the success of the company, NCP gives its clients number one priority. NCPAlcohols' philosophy supports a commitment to pursue long-termcommercial relationships with strategic partners and recognises the value of its customers as an extension of its business. One such established relationship is with the Belgian based Alco group, which handles in excess of one Billion litres of alcohol per year, approximately 8% of the world's traded volumes.
NCP's staff is comprised of a dynamic and highly motivated team of professionals. The company is dedicated to giving its employees the best training and knowledge as well as providing them with the best opportunities.
Black Economic Empowerment
NCP's success over its 140 years of history can in part be attributed to the company's ability to cope with era after era of change. Currently,NCP acknowledges the importance of broad-based Black Economic Empowerment (BEE) in both the transformation of South Africa and in long-term shareholder benefits. The aim of its Broad-Based BEE plan is to give direction and gain broad-based commitment from the NCP Alcohols' stakeholders for the next 10 years.
