Rainbow is the largest chicken processor and marketer in South Africa, employing over 7000 people in its agricultural, feed milling, processing and services facilities. Rainbow is a fully-integrated broiler producer that breeds and rears its own livestock, which it feeds from its own feed mills, processes, distributes and markets fresh, frozen, value-added and further- processed chicken.The company incorporates Rainbow Farms (supplier of fresh and frozen chicken), Epol (feed mills) and Cobb SA (breeding stock operation ).

It also produces a variety of dealer-own brands for a number of retailers and wholesalers.

Animal Welfare
As a business, we have always regarded animal welfare as a high priority and continue to actively comply with the SAPA (Southern African Poultry Association) Code of Practice, which was negotiated with the SPCA and the Animal Protection Act.
Rainbow subscribes to the British Poultry Councils Assured Chicken Production Programme that sets the highest standards for the nutrition and welfare of poultry. It covers the rearing, catching, transport and slaughter of poultry to ensure that the birds are handled in the most humane manner possible throughout the supply chain.
