eThekwini Municipality - DURBAN U/19 INTERNATIONAL FOOTBALL TOURNAMENT TRIALS BEGIN
2014-01-09
The KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Government, eThekwini Municipality and IEC in Sports in partnership with the South African Football Association (SAFA) will stage the International Under 19 Football Tournament from 28 July - 09 August 2014.
The technical team led by renowned soccer scout, Mr Paulo Cardoso, assisted by local coaches will from this weekend, 10/01/14, travel across the Province searching for players to represent KwaZulu-Natal in this world class international football tournament.
The team that will be handpicked by the technical team will compete against six top international clubs.
Players that are eligible to participate in the trials are males between the age groups of 15 and 18 years-old.
They need to preregister by sending their Identity Document (ID) number followed by their name and surname to 48421 and the area they come from. On the day of the trial potential candidates should bring their IDs as proof. Age cheating is discouraged and a zero tolerance approach has been adopted against this practice.
Over the coming weeks more than 15 open trials will take place across the Province. An estimated 18 000 players will be evaluated and out of that number only 140 will be selected to attend a two weeks intensive training camp in March / April. After the two weeks training the final squad consisting of 25 players will be selected.
Coaching workshops will be held at each venue.
