Various beaches around the City that had been closed due to severe weather conditions have been re-opened and members of the public are welcome to use them.
The heavy rains, high seas and strong wind that swept over the City during the weekend had caused infrastructure damage and the removal of shark nets, thus leading to the temporarily closure of a number of beaches.
Beaches that have been re-opened include; Durban Central (south and north), Umdloti, Bronze, Scottburgh, Mgababa, Carriedien, Warner and Isiphingo.
Pipeline beach in Amanzimtoti, eThekwini and Country Club beaches remain closed as Municipal staff are still busy with the clean-up and repair of the damaged infrastructure.
