Ithala supports youth career fair
 
Ithala Development Finance Corporation recently took part in a youth career fair organised by the Embo Business and Employment Hub (EBEH).
The career fair which attracted more than 500 learners and school leavers from the communities of Molweni, KwaNgcolosi, KwaNyuswa, Intshanga and Hammarsdale was aimed at informing youths of post school learning opportunities available to them.
Andile Nxasana from the Human Resources Division told the audience that Ithala offered internship and learnership opportunities to qualifying individuals.
“The objectives of our internship and learnership policy are to meet the challenges of capacity building at Ithala and to expose interns to meaningful and real-life work experiences to complement their classroom experience,” he said.
The career fair was also addressed by various tertiary institutions, representatives of private sector companies and officials from the eThekwini Municipality.
The CEO of EBEH, Sfiso Mnguni expressed gratitude to Ithala for its involvement in the programme.
“The fair has given young people invaluable information on study opportunities and how to access bursaries, scholarships and learnerships,” he said.
Ithala is currently assisting two students finish their studies at the Durban University of Technology and the University of Cape Town.
