uShaka Marine - Experience a taste of Thailand with Cargo Hold

uShaka Marine World's Cargo Hold restaurant continues its journey experiencing the sights, sounds and culinary delights across many famous coastal ports and destinations around the world. 

Next Month, in November, we dock at Bangkok in Thailand. Set in Southeast Asia, It's known for tropical beaches, opulent royal palaces, ancient ruins and ornate temples displaying figures of Buddha. In Bangkok, which is the capital, the ultramodern cityscape rises next to quiet canal side communities and the iconic temples of Wat Arun, Wat Pho and the Emerald Buddha Temple (Wat Phra Kaew). Nearby beach resorts include bustling Pattaya and fashionable Hua Hin. 

The nights menu commences with a selection of starters, that of Sa-tay (marinated chicken tenderloin, skewered and charcoal-grilled, served with classic home-style peanut sauce); Angel Shrimp (marinated shrimps wrapped in pastry shell and fried to crispy gold served with both chilli sauce and plum sauce);Tom-Kha Soup (classic coconut broth soup made with chicken, lemongrass, mushroom, galang-ga, and coriander), or try the vegetarian option, that of Som-Tum Salad (fine strips of carrot and red cabbage tossed with lime juice, Thai chili, and ground peanuts). 

Steamy delicious mains include Ped Tod (half roasted duck with blended honey, garlic, and ginger sauce, garnished with peas and corn); Pla Rad Prik (whole fillet trout deep fried to a golden crisp and topped with home-style chili sauce); Hor-Mok (fresh fish steamed in banana leaves with red curry, herbs, spices, and coconut milk) and Pad Woon Sen (noodles stir-fried in light brown sauce with mushrooms, baby corn, onions, scallions and eggs.) 

To end off the perfect Taiwanese dining experience, authentic desserts from the region include Deep Fried Banana (ripe banana halves covered in batter, deep-fried and topped with honey drizzles and sesame seeds, served with ice cream); Sticky Rice Pudding (sticky rice merged with egg, palm sugar and coconut milk for a sweet, irresistible dessert) or the option of  Chocolate Springrolls (six crispy spring rolls filled with rich milk chocolate and drizzled lightly with chocolate syrup, served with ice cream.).
