Science Week
Grade 9 learners from 17 schools in the EThekwini Metro are being hosted this week by the uShaka NPC Sea World Education Centre. Spending the day at uShaka Sea World and being given the opportunity of meeting staff from the various SAAMBR (South African Association for Marine Biological Research) departments is a life changing experience for many learners.
Scientists from the Oceanographic Research Institute, curatorial staff, microbiologists and technicians are delighted to share their careers with the eager learners. Understanding that science is accessible to all will hopefully encourage more learners to choose science when making subject choices at the end of the year.
