Lizzy Twala from Sizahulumeni Trading was the very popular winner of the 2015 KwaZulu-Natal Business Chambers Council's The Entrepreneur Competition. Twala represented the Ladysmith
Chamber of Commerce. The competition, and accompanying training programme, is jointly supported by the KwaZuluNatal Department of Economic Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs (EDTEA),
its KZN Small Business Growth Enterprise division, and the private sector on an equal cost sharing basis.
Sizahulumeni Trading, a Cut, Make and Trim (CMT) factory, was started by Lizzy in 2010 with 18 staff members. Twala's business career began with home based and industrial sewing. She then worked for eight years in a clothing manufacturing factory as a machinist and supervisor at Durban Overall, where she gained experience in managing a factory.
Her company currently manufactures kitchen suits and ladies three pieces uniforms. Sizahulumeni Trading has grown at great pace and now employs over 70 employees, producing over 200 thousand CMT garments per year and growing.
