The Parklands College StellarBots win Project Presentation for South Africa in Uruguay
The theme for the 2018/2019 FIRST Lego League (FLL) Robotics season was “INTO ORBITâ€. This theme requires teams to transport themselves into space and create innovative solutions for the challenges that the vast expanse of space holds. The FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition for Science and Technology) LEGO League is an international technology programme that is carried out in more than 80 countries, involving more than 250 000 young people in the world.
After their performance at the First Lego League South African National competition last year the Parklands College StellarBots received a special invitation to represent South Africa at the FIRST LEGO League Plan Ceibal International Open in Montevideo, Uruguay,
The event saw 65 teams with a total of 700 members from 26 countries competing over three days in the beautiful Antel Arena in Montevideo from 30 May to 1 June 2019.
The StellarBots had an extremely successful trip in Uruguay. The three-day competition had them competing in the Robot Game, showing off their team core values and presenting their modular, radiation resistant, hydroponic crop growth system to various judges and teams from throughout the world.
Their months of hard work culminated in them winning the first place for Project Presentation. This award recognises a team that effectively communicates the problem they have identified and their proposed solution to both the judges and other potential supporters.
Congratulations to this team on this wonderful achievement.
