Mr Price KINGS PARK
2011-01-28
The Sharks and Mr Price are proud to announce the new name of The Shark Tank which will now be called Mr Price KINGS PARK.
As Title Sponsor of The Sharks for the past 10 years, Mr Price has been an integral part of The Sharks and as a company, have now extended their partnership by securing naming rights for the stadium.
KINGS PARK has been home to rugby in the province and now Mr Price KINGS PARK is a return to the well-loved and cherished name associated with an equally revered team.
The psychology of sport often goes beyond just the sport itself - the team's name as well as its home are important factors that drive allegiance to that team. The Sharks, as they became known in 1995 when the sport of rugby became professional, was a massive shift away from the old "Banana Boys" reference to the provincial team.
And like its home - KINGS PARK - known the world over for its hospitable, family environment, so The Sharks have grown to become one of the most recognisable sports brands in the world, certainly one of the biggest in South Africa - indeed, a Superbrand.
Mr Price KINGS PARK has a proud history and, for over forty years, has hosted many memorable provincial and international events, such as the Rugby World Cup as well as being the home of The Sharks and various rugby teams, like Duikers, Sharks XV, Sharks Under 19s, Under 21s and the Sharks Academy
