ILembe Chamber Launched

The official launch of the iLembe Chamber of Commerce and Tourism was held last week at Hotel Izulu in Ballito. The event was a huge success with 275 business people from all business sectors represented.
The executive committee was announced which included Bongani Linda (Chairman SASA, Director Enterprise ilembe) as President, Keith Palmer (Portfolio Manager - Isithebe Industrial Estate - Ithala Development Finance Corporation) as Vice President, and Dayalan Chetty (Tongaat Hulett Developments) as Treasurer. Other committee members are Albert Render (Managing Director - RHI Isithebe), Andy Horton (Attorney LC Smith), Grant Pringle (Managing Director Hotel Izulu), Justin Scott (Magazine Director - FabMags Publications), Louise Gibson (Director, ComProp), Mel Clark (Executive Director of Black Balance Projects), Melanie Clarkson (eLan Foundation Manager & Investor Club Manager), Phillip de Sylva (IFA Vice President Operations, Africa & Indian Ocean) and Terence Delomoney (Regional General Manager: King Shaka International Airport).
In his speech Bongani Linda stated that the Chamber operates in a very dynamic environment.
He said “The North Coast is only growing and the level of progress is vast. The chamber will reflect this environment by being as dynamic and progressive in its approach”.
A number of projects, initiatives, services and events are being planned and will be launched during the course of this year. These include a business survey to develop an understanding of local business needs and issues, and beautifying the entrance to Ballito.
Project Jumpstart will distribute 20 marketing packs to the value of R200 000 to 20 budding entrepreneurs to help them market their businesses more effectively. These marketing packs will dove-tail with the Chamber’s mentorship programme.
