ETHEKWINI TO HOST CO-OPERATIVES DEVELOPMENT STRATEGY WORKSHOPS
In an effort to provide support and nurture co-operatives in order for them to be self-sustainable and successful, eThekwini Municipality invites all members of co-operatives within the Municipal Area to attend and contribute to the development of a viable Co-operatives Development Strategy.
The Municipality will host a number of workshops for co-operatives which will be running from 26/01/2015-11/02/2015, in order to gather input on the strategy.
The workshops are scheduled as follows:
• 26 JANUARY 2015, MAGABA COMMUNITY HALL, HAMMERSDALE
• 28 JANUARY 2015, PINETOWN CIVIC CENTRE
• 30 JANUARY 2015, V SECTION HALL, UMLAZI
• 04 FEBRUARY 2015, BESTER HALL, INANDA
• 05 FEBRUARY 2015, AMANZIMTOTI CIVIC CENTRE
• 06 FEBRUARY 2015 , WATERLOO HALL, VERULAM
• 09 FEBRUARY 2015, ITRUMP HALL, WARWICK JUNCTION
Project Executive within the Municipality’s Business Support, Tourism and Markets Unit Siyabonga Luthuli said: “Co-operatives contribute meaningfully in the local, provincial, and global economy which is why the Municipality is developing this strategy to improve support offered to them.â€
Copies of the Co-operatives Development Strategy are obtainable from SEDA Office in Johannes Nkosi Street, Sizakala centres from 16 January 2015 from 08h00 – 16h00 and on the Municipal website: www.durban.gov.za for members of co-operatives to read and make their comments.
