Blythedale Coastal Resort land values on the rise

2009-11-11

Land values at Blythedale Coastal Resort have increased by an average of 58% over the past three years and the most growth is being seen on coastal sites.

Mark Taylor, CEO of the eLan Group, developers of the resort said there are only 12 sites out of 23 left on the Resort’s exclusive celebrity mile. “These sites which have unbelievable ocean views have grown by 117%,” he said.

Since its launch in November 2006, entry level sites have increased in value from R513 000 to R1, 120million on prime dam view sites.

Forest view sites have increased from R1, 450million to R1, 7million and the resort’s most sought after ocean view sites have increased from R3, 150million to R4, 345million.

Taylor said, “I am especially excited for the early birds who invested in the resort three years ago. They will reap the rewards of this worthwhile investment when we break ground early next year.”

Despite this growth, Blythedale Coastal Resort still offers affordable land prices with entry level sites starting at R720 000.

Taylor attributes value increases and renewed interest in the resort mostly to its accessible location only 20 minutes from the new King Shaka International Airport. “Lack of coastal stock, improving market conditions and infrastructure in the area are also playing a great part in fuelling people’s interest in coastal land on the KZN north coast,” he said.

Blythedale Coastal Resort is a 1000 hectare resort development situated 45 minutes north of Durban. It comprises 5000 residential units and offers a diverse lifestyle. For those who love the beach, there is Blythedale Ocean, boasting all encompassing views of the KZN coastline. Blythedale Forest sites peer into 320 hectares of indigenous coastal bush and is a must for bird and animal lovers. Blythedale Equestrian has integrated equestrian facilities and Blythedale Golf offers a lock-up-and-go lifestyle on the fringes of an 18-hole championship golf course.

Facilities include a resort hotel, wellness centre, a variety of restaurants and bars and a water theme park. The forest will be preserved and a series of walking trails and bridleways built for residents to enjoy their natural surroundings.
