Tsogo Sun - Wine Lovers take note! Exclusive Wine Paired dinner at Grill Jichana

Explore Grill Jichana’s exquisite culinary journey with one of South Africa’s most revered winemakers through four outstanding wines including KWV’s Mentors Sauvignon Blanc Sémillon 2015 and Cathedral Cellar Cabernet Sauvignon 2013. Guests will be guided through the tasting notes of each wine and learn more about the KWV winery.

These wines have been expertly matched to an exquisite four-course menu of tuna and salmon duo, porcini cappuccino (truffle scented creamy mushroom soup), slow cooked Durban masala infused beef short rib with pulled brisket ragout and crisp floss and finished off with poached pear served with vanilla bean pod ice cream and salted caramel praline.

This delectable wine paired dinner will be offered to Grill Jichana guests for a limited two month period, from October and available on Monday’s, Tuesday’s and Wednesday’s only until November.

“We are thrilled to offer our guests this unique experience where great food is complimented with equally great wine. Our guests will also have the opportunity to select the full menu offering or choose to dine with a specific course. They are all individually priced which gives our guests flexibility in their dining experience,” says Samantha Croft, director of operations KZN hotels.

KWV’s legendary winemaker Louwritz Louw will lead a tasting of four incredible wines including Mentors Chenin Blanc 2014, and KWV Classic Cape Tawny.

“KWV’s iconic range Mentors and Cathedral Cellar are handcrafted wines that are made in a style that pairs perfectly with the menu created for tonight. As KWV celebrates 100 years in the business, we are pleased to compliment this fantastic menu created by head chef Denbeigh van der Merwe by Grill Jichana,” said Louw.

Completing the dining experience Louw added: “The Mentors Sauvignon Blanc 2015 is fruit driven with a lot of freshness and acidity, while the Chenin Blanc was barrel fermented and much creamier on the palette.

“The third wine which is the first red in the line-up is also barrel aged for 18 months and finished off with our classic collection, the Cape Tawny, port styled wine. What makes this wine so special is that it has an average age of 20 years,” said Louw.

Tuna and Salmon Duo

Shichimi togarashi spiced tuna tartare on avocado salsa with crispy pickled ginger and sesame seeded seared salmon with wasabi hollandaise set on brushed soy glaze with lemon jellies

Mentors Sauvignon Blanc Sémillon 2015
