Durban Chamber - Message from the CEO2015-01-29 Dear Chamber Members
As my term of office at the Durban Chamber draws to a close at the end of the week, I take this opportunity to express my gratitude to our member companies for the support they have given me and this proud, 159-year-old organisation. It has been a great privilege for me to have had the opportunity of being part of its leadership and history. I’m not sure if everyone appreciates just how much stature our Chamber enjoys in the national context of the Chamber Movement. This will continue, unquestionably, under the leadership of my successor, Dumile Cele. I am extremely grateful to the many people within the membership who have engaged so supportively with me. Your involvement and encouragement have been invaluable. I will not be leaving Durban, nor am I “retiring†in the lifestyle sense of the word. I have been employed for 48 years and will be withdrawing my pension, but I have every hope that this will be the extent of the “retirement†and that I will find enough things to do to keep my mind and my bank balance active. I would be keen to write reports and articles, deliver presentations, mentor younger people, facilitate meetings, consult or just share some of my experience. More than that, however, I would very much like to keep in contact with all of you who have become part of my network. I may be reached at laymana@telkomsa.net or 082 4903637. Thank you, and my very best wishes. |
