eThekwini Municipality: Leaking Water Pipe Discovered in KwaMashu

2013-05-21

The Water and Sanitation Unit (EWS) has discovered a 300 diameter pipe which is leaking in KwaMashu J, Mdoni Road. There is an electrical substation built on top of the diameter pipe, thus it cannot be repaired immediately. This main supplies major parts of KwaMashu. As such, the Municipality has been forced to shutdown the water and electricity supply in most parts of KwaMashu.

The areas affected are KwaMashu-L, M, N, J, G, F and H.

The Electricity Unit together with EWS have planned to relocate the electrical substation inorder to repair the water pipe tomorrow, 21/05/13. Repairs are estimated to take about 12 to 15 hours, and it will commence tomorrow, 21/05/13 at 8.30 am.

It is envisaged that both water and electricity should be restored by 8.30 pm in the evening tomorrow.

While the water is interrupted to conduct the repair, water tankers will be sent to all affected areas..

The Municipality wishes to apologise for the inconvenience caused.

Ends.
