eThekwini Municipality: Water Restriction Due to Emergency Shutdown â€" 24- 25 May 2013

2013-05-27

The Municipality has shut down a major Trunk main for an emergency repair. This trunk main supplies the Northern area - North of Umngeni River.

Water will be available, however residents are urged to use water very wisely during this period as the supply of water will be very limited. We will be receiving 60% less water as we are diverting water from another trunk main.

Areas affected are:
• Northern region: north of uMngeni River up to Umhlanga
• Central - Between Umgeni river and uMlazi River and the western boundary is Pinetown/Fieldhill area

Please do not:-

1. Wash cars

2. Water gardens

3. Avoid washing clothes

4. Fill swimming pools

5. Waste water in any way. Shower in place of bathing, close the tap when brushing teeth etc.

This restriction is for a period of 24 hours. We urge you to use water sparingly.

Areas that experience water interruptions will be assisted by our water tankers to the best of our ability. If major areas are affected, then we will identify water collection points and communities will be informed via radio, flyers or posters.
