eThekwini Municipality:Sustainable Living Exhibition ready to go

2013-09-06

The Durban Exhibition Centre is a hive of activity as more than 200 exhibitors of the Sustainable Living Exhibition Centre set up for the City’s premier greening event which begins tomorrow morning.

The City is gearing up to host the Sustainable Living Exhibition that showcases just how easy it is to live a green lifestyle. More than 200 exhibitors will be available to showcase their innovations and inspire you to live sustainable lifestyles. With everything from water and energy saving devices, solar powered gadgets and ozone friendly appliances, to worm farms, organic gardening, and recycling. The Exhibition provides an ideal platform for learning, networking and sharing of experiences.

The Sustainable City Exhibition promises to be an eventful one for the whole family. There will be interesting learning games for young and old, with the KZN Science Centre partnering with the Municipality to bring hours of fun and learning to children at the planetarium and science exhibits. Puppet making and movies also form part of the programme.

Bongumusa Zondo, Senior Manager of Imagine Durban, said ‘Schools have really taken the initiative to develop young minds into thinking and acting sustainably. Some of the excellent work that schools are doing will also be showcased. Schools will debate the important themes of Imagine Durban in a marathon debating forum to be held at the Coast of Dream with DEC. This focus on youth will embed the idea of sustainability in their minds.”

This year’s show also features a unique fashion show put together in partnership with the Durban University of Technology, were all garments will be made of recyclable material! This popular showcase is a crowd favourite as visitors watch in awe of the creative ways to use paper, cardboard, plastic, wood , and packets. The list goes on! This year’s creations promises not to disappoint.

So if you are into all things natural and environmental friendly, make sure you schedule this exciting and informative exhibition in your diary. Entrance is free and the exhibition will be open from 9am -5pm. It closes on Sunday.
