eThekwini Municipality:Beware of Con Artists2013-10-03 The Municipality would like to warn the public and service providers to be on the lookout for a con artist who is requesting quotations on behalf of the Municipality. The con man who goes by the name of George Langeni, contacts services providers for quotations for tenders that are advertised on tsibocreens.com and issues false municipal documents and order numbers. He then requests the service provider to issue an invoice and pay a 50% deposit to a company called Tsibo Screens.
The City Integrity and Investigations Unit has found that several service providers have been contacted by the conman. He provides a City Hall address and telephone number which is linked to the PABX at Florence Mkhize Building. The Municipality is clamping down and is adopting a zero tolerance stance on fraud and corruption and is urging the public to report these incidents to the City Integrity and Investigations Unit. Any information related to this case and any other cases of fraud, corruption, maladministration and human rights violation in the Municipality, must be reported to the City Integrity and Investigations Unit on 0800 202020 toll free or on telephone 031 311 4002.
