eThekwini Municipality - CAREER EXPO FOR YOUNGSTERS

2014-05-02

EThekwini Municipality’s Skills Development Unit in partnership with the Future Leaders will host a Careers Expo from Friday, 02-04 May, at the Botanic Gardens.

The Expo is aimed at ensuring access to information among the youth and to expose them to different career and business opportunities.

The Mayor, Cllr James Nxumalo says education is a priority and the Municipality has set aside a budget to support needy excelling students.

“Through this effort, we have a power to assist prospective youngsters to grow their potential. A good career starts with a good choice of qualification. Our country, and by extension, the Municipality is faced with a massive shortage of skills and so our education system needs to respond better to the skills that are lacking,” said Nxumalo.

Youth will get an opportunity to hear about different careers which will enable them to make a decision to enroll for a suitable qualification.

Exhibitors include institutions of higher learning, government departments and businesses.

Issued by Tozi Mthethwa, Head of Communications Unit.
