eThekwini Municipality - CITY STRENGTHENS RELATIONS WITH THE CITY OF NEWCASTLE

2015-03-06

In a bid to strengthen trade and economic ties with other international cities, Deputy Mayor Nomvuzo Shabalala will tomorrow, 06/03/2015, sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the City of Newcastle, United Kingdom.

The delegation from the City of Newcastle arrived in the City today as part of the two-day programme to explore areas of cooperation.

The two Cities will deliberate on ways of working together to strengthen business interests and pursue investment and trade opportunities.

The focus will also be on tourism promotion, co-operation in the fields of culture, education and youth participation through local cultural organisations, schools and the youth council.

This will also serve as an opportunity for the cities to discuss the cultural prospects linked to this year’s Rugby World Cup when Newcastle will host the South Africa vs Scotland match.

The Chambers of Commerce from the two cities are also participating in the programme.

Members of the media are invited to cover the MOU signing as follows:
