2015-06-15

EThekwini Municipality in conjunction with the Department of Home Affairs will empower hundreds of young people in the western region of the City tomorrow, 16/06/2015, when they hand over free Smart Identity Cards that will open doors of employment, housing and education, enabling the youth to reach for their dreams.

The Grade 11 and 12 learners from four schools, namely Siyajabula High School, Maqhutshana High School, Thabela High School and Entabeni High School, in Ward 103, KwaNyuswa, have been chosen through initiatives by Operation Sukuma Sakhe and the Office of the Mayor’s Youth Office.

The Smart ID drive hopes to reach young people from previously disadvantaged communities to ensure that they also access government services.

The Mayor invites all members of the media to cover this momentous event.

Details of the venue and date are as follows:

Date: 16 June 2015

Time: 8h00
