eThekwini Municipality - TRADING SPACE FOR THE DURBAN BUSINESS FAIR BOOKED OUT

2015-09-23

The Durban Business Fair (DBF) has become a platform for the City to create a conducive environment for businesses to become sustainable and to meaningfully contribute to the local economy.

A number of businesses, particularly small, medium and micro enterprises (SMMEs) have registered for this year’s Durban Business Fair taking place from 16-18 October 2015 at the Durban Exhibition Centre.

A record number of businesses, over 550, have registered to participate to this year’s Fair. Registration is now closed.

The Fair offers various innovative activities to assist businesses to better market their product as well as equipping them with relevant business expertise that will enable them to compete globally. A number of new features are set to take place at this year’s Fair. This includes offering businesses further insight into growing markets and methods of doing business with international markets.

EThekwini Mayor James Nxumalo said it was inspiring to see a large number of emerging businesses showing interest in the Fair.

“This proves that this sector plays an important role in the world economy and contributes substantially to creating employment and alleviating poverty. As the population continues to grow there is a high demand to promote and stimulate economic growth,” he said.

The Mayor said platforms such as the Durban Business Fair were ideal to equip businesses to survive economic uncertainty and to access economic opportunity programmes that promote private and public sector investments.

The Durban Business Fair provides an opportunity for small businesses to network with their peers from various sectors, create partnerships with well-established businesses and attract new clients or potential buyers.

The public is invited to attend the Fair and explore locally manufactured products on offer. By supporting these businesses they would be promoting job creation in the City.

Entrance to the exhibition is free!
