eThekwini Municipality - EThekwini proud to host Africa Engineering Week

The second annual Africa Engineering Week will be held from 28 â€" 30 September 2015 at the Mangosuthu University of Technology (MUT) in Umlazi.

The Minister of Science and Technology Naledi Pandor will deliver the opening address on 28 September 2015, speaking to engineering practitioners from across South Africa as well as neighbouring countries.

The three day event is a collaboration between eThekwini Municipality, the United Nations Educational Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), the Department of Science and Technology (DST), the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA), University of KwaZulu-Natal and MUT.

Africa Engineering Week aims to educate the youth as well as the public about the significance of engineering in their lives. This year’s event is themed "Engineering for a better tomorrow!” A number of educational workshop activities and exhibitions showcasing different engineering disciplines offered at South African universities are lined up.

KZN Premier Senzo Mchunu, eThekwini Mayor James Nxumalo and UNESCO representatives will be part of the Engineering Week Programme.

Members of the media are invited to attend the opening of the conference.
