eThekwini Municipality - MINISTER CWELE TO ENGAGE WITH YOUNG ENTREPRENEURS IN HAMMARSDALE

Young entrepreneurs in the Hammarsdale area, Outer West of the Municipality, will receive a rare opportunity to engage with the Minister of Telecommunications and Postal Services, Dr Siyabonga Cwele, during Information Imbizo.

The zealous and ambitious entrepreneurs will discuss with the Minister several ways to improve their business strategies.

Cwele, who will be accompanied by eThekwini Deputy Mayor Cllr Nomvuzo Shabalala will highlight programmes in his department that assist young entrepreneurs come up with innovative ways to address business challenges. Cwele will also unpack ways of using current technologies to develop competitive economic markets. 

“The Imbizo is an opportunity to share information directly with young entrepreneurs about what government is doing to make it easier for them to operate. It is also an opportunity to hear from the entrepreneurs what the department can do to ensure that the support is more beneficial to them," says Cwele.

The Minister will also share the progress made by government in implementing the nine-point plan that was announced by President Jacob Zuma during the 2015 State of the Nation Address. This plan is mainly about growing the South African economy and creating much-needed jobs.

Deputy Mayor, Cllr Nomvuzo Shabalala says that technology has become an important tool in the business world. “This Imbizo will promote innovations and the culture of entrepreneurship amongst the young SMMEs in order to provide solutions to socio-economic challenges in our society, by growing the economy and creating employment opportunities.”

The two dignitaries will be accompanied by high-profile leaders of telecommunications companies who will also share information about initiatives implemented by their companies to assist young entrepreneurs.
