eThekwini Municipality - CALL FOR DESIGNERS TO PARTICIPATE IN THE 2016 DURBAN FASHION FAIR

2016-02-11

Emerging fashion designers who want to showcase their Autumn/Winter collections at the Durban Fashion Fair (DFF) 2016 are invited to register. The Fair, which has grown to be one of the biggest fashion events in Durban, is an ideal platform for local designers to showcase their talents while making them globally competitive.

Selected designers will have the opportunity to showcase their exclusive collections to potential buyers from other countries as well as to local fashion lovers.

EThekwini Deputy Mayor Councillor Nomvuzo Shabalala said this year’s DFF will be different compared to previous years as the City celebrates the Fair’s fifth anniversary.

“The City is very proud of this milestone. The Fair will be celebrating five years and has done tremendous work in developing the talent of local designers and contributing to the growth of the sector,” said Shabalala.

Interested designers can select from the following options to showcase the garments:

•R1 500 for a combined show (three or more designers). A combined show requires 10 looks per designer

•R2 500 for a shared show (two designers). A shared show requires 15 looks per designer

Designers are also requested to submit the following:

•Company Profile

•Individual Profile/CV

•Letter of Motivation

•Professional Portfolio and/or Look-Book for the collection intended for showcasing

Portfolios and supporting documents must be submitted at Business Support, Tourism & Markets Unit Office, 11th Floor, 75 Dr Langalibalele Dube (Winder) Street, Durban, by Friday, 26 February 2016 at 1pm. Only selected designers will be permitted to showcase.
