eThekwini Municipality - TEN NEGLECTED OPEN SPACES TO BE TRANSFORMED INTO MINI PARKS2016-06-13 In celebrating youth month and youth leaders, eThekwini Municipality in partnership with an all-female youth organisation, Imbumba Yembokodo, have embarked on a campaign to clean up neglected open spaces and transform them into recreation facilities for communities.
The clean-up campaign began on Monday, 13 June 2016 and will run until 27 June 2016. The Municipality has identified 10 neglected spaces and dump sites in townships and suburbs that will be converted into green recreational spaces this month. These spaces will be converted into 10 Mini Parks that will be fitted with benches and playing equipment. The clean-up drive follows the success of converting a dump site on Zulu Road in KwaMashu into a safe, clean and green facility in May. Members of the media are invited to be part of this initiate.
