eThekwini Municipality - Join us in celebrating our Women in Uniform

The Metro Police, South African Defence Force, South African Police Services, Correctional Services Department and the eThekwini Fire Department are joining forces to host the Women in Uniform parade on 25 August 2016. The parade will take place through Dr Pixley kaIsaka Seme Street (formerly West Street) to honour and celebrate the many women in uniform who have successfully entered a predominately male dominated field, and put their lives at risk for the safety of citizens. About 200 women in uniform representing the above mentioned state departments will put their put best foot forward as they drill in formation.

The parade will take place from Joe Slovo Street (Field Street) to City Hall from 9h30 â€" 10h30. The City is inviting the public to join us as we celebrate our Women in Uniform.

Please note the following road closures and take alternative routes during that time:

Dr Pixley kaIsaka Seme Street will be closed off from Joe Slovo at 09h30 and is expected to be opened at 10h20, thereafter Dr Pixley kaIsaka Seme Street will be closed off at Dorothy Nyembe Street at 10h30 and should be opened at 11h30.

Traffic will be diverted north upon Joe Slovo Street from 09h30, traffic will also be diverted south upon Dorothy Nyembe Street at 10h30.
