After successfully hosting the Durban Business Fair recently, the eThekwini Municipality is offering yet another platform for small businesses to learn and access opportunities. The Municipality's Business Support, Markets and Durban Tourism Unit will host a Business Indaba for SMMEs at different regions within the Municipal area during October.

The Indaba aims to provide SMMEs with access to information and business opportunities from both private and public sectors create business linkages as well as networking opportunities with various guest speakers and other influential business people in Durban.The Head of Business Support, Markets and Durban Tourism Unit, Mr Philip Sithole, says the Indaba is seeking to assist mostly those small businesses who were unable to attend the Durban Business Fair for various reasons.

"The Municipality understands that most people wanted to be part of the Fair to acquire knowledge and other business opportunities from business experts. This is the reason we decided to take the Business Indaba to the most disadvantaged," says Sithole.He says it is important that small businesses are advised on new Supply Chain Management processes that are required when you want to do business with the Municipality. "There is also a need to understand how the private sector more especially big business treat issues of
empowerment and linkages with small businesses," says Sithole.
