ETHEKWINI STUDENT RELIEF FUND APPLICATIONS CLOSED
2018-01-18
EThekwini Municipality assists with registration fees by providing funds to disadvantaged students who have been accepted or are studying towards an undergraduate qualification at a public higher education institution.
However, applications opened in November last year, with the deadline being 1 December 2017. Currently officials are finalising screening of applications and liaising with students who have already applied.
Further requirements to qualify for the funding, which is for registration fees only, include the students combined parents’ income not exceeding R160 000 per annum and good academic performance among other things.
The City awards bursaries to those studying towards a scarce skill as defined by the Municipality.
The financial aid project started in 2014 with around 1 050 students benefitting from the programme since its inception. It should be noted that there is limited budget to assist students this year and the Municipality will be unable to help all needy students.
