Ebandla Campaign

2017-06-05

The KwaZulu-Natal Ebandla campaign is a well-devised, wellorganised and sustainable marketing campaign to promote our Province as a place of choice in which to work and live.

Based on the concept of the Homecoming Revolution and launched nationally and internationally, the KZN Provincial Government has teamed up with the African Renaissance movement on the KZN Successful Alumni/Ebandla Campaign, to engage with KwaZulu-Natal alumni currently living beyond our provincial borders as well as abroad.

Since inception, a number of planned reunion dinners have been held in various centres, including Johannesburg, Cape Town, London, New York, Dubai and Sydney Australia. Some 300 business men and women and people in positions of influence, formerly from KwaZulu-Natal were hosted at each event. Initially, a handful of successful alumni, were approached to assist in gathering the names of other individuals based in the relevant centres. A snowball approach was adopted and resulted in the development of a significant database in excess of 2500 prominent names, all of whom received invitations to attend the reunion dinners staged in their adopted regions and countries.

A similar function is now planned once again in London during the first week of June this year. The function aims to engage with successful businessmen and women who hail from KwaZulu-Natal, or who have graduated or launched their careers in the Province and now reside and work in the United Kingdom.

The reunion function in London is supported by the Mayor of Durban, Cllr Zandile Gumede, and is fully sponsored by the City of Durban’s eThekwini Municipality. The campaign is also close to the heart of the KZN Premier, Mr Willies Mchunu, and has the unanimous support of his Cabinet. The reunion function will provide an opportunity for the provincial public and private leadership to share with guests, the vision on the way forward for KwaZulu-Natal and will hopefully lead towards a mutually beneficial liaison in the months and years to come.
