Corobrik Conference rewards top employees for driving sales and production

Dedication and teamwork have consistently driven Corobrik sales despite increasingly tough trading conditions and economic stagnation. It was this commitment to service that was honoured at the recent Corobrik Conference on 24 and 25 February, a highly-anticipated awards’ ceremony that has been hosted the past 21 years. 

“Our people are integral to maintaining the Corobrik philosophy of value-add management,” said Corobrik Chairman, Peter du Trevou. “This Corobrik way of life creates a healthy, rewarding and satisfying working environment where everyone has the opportunity to contribute to our success and their own development, and to be recognised for excellence.” 

He explained the Corobrik focus on employee value creation recognises all employees who go the extra mile. This has entrenched a high-performance culture across Corobrik based on employee engagement, growth and strong values, underpinning the way Corobrik does business. 

“To maintain the passion and commitment of our people, it is important to continuously provide clear direction and realignment of our organisation's systems to current and future business challenges,” he said. “At the Corobrik Conference, such employees were rewarded for their efforts.” 

Corobrik in KwaZulu-Natal took three awards including"Corobrik Centre of The Year" to the Ballito centre and ‘Area Sales Manager/Centre Manager of the Year’ for Indren Munsamy. Christine van den Berg, received the ‘Specifier Representative of the Year’ award. 

“There has been massive development across the KwaZulu-Natal North Coast and the KZN team has maximised its positioning to ensure Corobrik features,” explained Allin Dangers, Corobrik Director of Sales. “Indren and his team are aware of what needs to achieved. They have formed great relationships with customers and are in touch with local consumer needs and market trends.” 

This success is also evidenced by Christine van den Berg’s impressive 2017 performance. The specifying representative in the region, Van den Berg has successfully grown the demand for face brick specification while influencing the specification of 1.2 million Black Bricks for an East London Project. She also formed part of the winning sales’ team, contributing in the improved overall sales’ regionally. 

Across Corobrik’s 15 factories, it was the performance of Midrand Factory’s Heinrich von Wielligh that earned him ‘Factory Manager of the Year’. 

“The position is a demanding one, particularly in an organisation such as this where stringent processes must be adhered to,” explained Robbie Carswell, Corobrik Manufacturing Director. “For the evaluation of the award recipient, we assess criteria such as safety, management style and overall efficiency. Heinrich received high scores in all categories.” 

Danny du Plessis of Polokwane was awarded ‘Sales Manager of the Year’ for achieving the highest year-on-year growth and overall budget growth figures. 

“Du Plessis inspired his team to constantly reach new targets and try new approaches while also cultivating customer relationships,” said Ockert van Heerden, Corobrik Sales Director. “This concerted effort resulted in a successful year for the Sales Manager and continued to grow the Corobrik brand.” 

Following Du Plessis’ lead is team member, John Kadi, who took home ‘Sales Representative of the Year’. Kadi is a highly-motivated individual who often goes beyond his call of duty. He continues to develop networks within government departments and has earned a reputation as a reliable and skilled sales representative. He exceeded his budget while increasing year-on-year figures. 

All Corobrik Conference award winners are selected on the basis of their annual performance with criteria including sales and work-based assessments counting towards a final tally. The career-boosting award is also accompanied by a cash prize, encouraging continuing dedication to the Corobrik brand.
