The city of Durban is the next iconic location to host another world class sporting event this September, the Tri-Rock Durban.

TriRock is an endurance triathlon which includes a 1.9km swim, a 90km cycle and then a 21.1km out-and-back run route which will follow Durban’s Golden Mile. TriRock will take place on the 22nd of September.

With the great success of the Triathlon Compendium Multi-Series that SUNCOAST has hosted over the years, TriRock is set to bring out sporting enthusiasts from all over South Africa. “SUNCOAST supports the concept of sport tourism by hosting events that attract a large number of visitors. We look forward to welcoming all the athletes to our beautiful city” said Mike Dowsley, SUNCOAST Executive Director.

The event will accommodate individual athletes, as well as those wishing to compete in a relay-type format.  For those unable to finish the longer distance event, there will be shorter options to choose from.

The weekend will be a sporting festival for the whole family to enjoy. Children can take part in the Kids Rock at midday on Saturday the 21st of September. Children aged 6 to 15 will swim at uShaka Beach, then cycle on the promenade and complete the race with a run along the beach to the main finish line.

For budding triathletes there is Urban Rock Sprint Triathlon on Saturday morning. This is a short distance triathlon and a great build up to Sunday’s main event. Urban Rock consists of a short 400m swim, 18km cycle and 4km run.
