Celebrating Africa

The 25th of May is marked on the South African calendar as Africa Day, a day to celebrate our African culture and heritage. SUNCOAST staff celebrated Africa Day with a group of 25 very excited children from various Primary schools within the Chesterville community.

On arrival each child had their face painted with a unique traditional African style of face painting and the children had a blast showing off their decorated faces. This was followed by the team from Shizaya Drums teaching the children how to play the traditional African Djembe drum.  The drumming session soon built up the children’s appetites and all were treated to pizzas and milkshakes which were sponsored by Debonairs and KFC. It was truly a fun and memorable day which ended with each child receiving a goodie bag filled with treats to help them celebrate the rest of Africa Day.
