Richards Bay Minerals Richard Bay Minerals (RBM) is an integral part of the Richards Bay, KwaZulu-Natal and South African economies.  RBM's growth has stimulated employment, infrastructural development, and has encouraged the uptake of skills within the local workforce.  The company contributes 50 percent of KZN's mining sector by value of output representing 3.3 percent of the national mining sector output. RBM is also a major employer and the single largest taxpayer in KZN. This year marks RBM's 40th anniversary.

Tronox
Tronox is one of a few companies to have made a major investment in the KZN economy in 2015, with the opening of the Fairbreeze mine in Empangeni. The mine was a 3.3 billion Rand investment for the area.
