The month-end Sundowners gig is all set to stage at The Playhouse on Friday (2 June 2017) with some of the finest poetry and live music on offer to get you into the mood for the weekend.
 

This Friday’s Sundowner’s gig will feature Tutti Grooves â€" a seven-member ensemble from KwaZuluNatal â€" and popular bassis/pianist, KB Maphumulo.
 

Tutti is an Italian word literally meaning “all” or “together” and is used as a musical term, for the whole orchestra as opposed to the soloist. As the name suggests, the members of Tutti Grooves came together propelled by their passion for music and are producing incredibly amazing sounds.
 

Evidently inspired by the sounds of artists and bands such as Hugh Masekela, Stimela and Sankomota, the band decided on jazz and popular music as their genre of choice. Their smooth, deep and soothing sound has mesmerised people all over South Africa at different events.
 

Playing different instruments is not only what these young men are gifted at, their vocal capabilities are mind-blowing. Although they do perform music by other musicians, they also write their lyrics and compose their own music.
 

Khulekani Bhekuyise Maphumulo â€" stage name K.B. “The Master” â€" draws his musical inspiration from Victor Ntonim, Lex Futshane, Thami Mtshali and Victor Masondo.
 

KB spends most of the time playing with the Umkhumbane Jazz Ensemble.
