Setting Smart Goals 20162016-01-06 On reflection I realised that I had unintentionally accomplished some of my goals. However, these goals were hastily written ideas jotted in my journal under the theme ‘Fabulous 2015’ without much thought to their substance. In some instances, I was amused that the outcomes had been achieved at all. But, this success got me thinking that even thoughts can be translated into reality. These ideas had stayed in my unconscious mind and steered my actions.
This awareness stressed the importance of being really clear when setting goals. This year my goals are SMART - specific, measurable, achievable, realistic and timely., For example, I want to ride the Argus cycle race in March (specific) in under four hours (measurable) and will train four times a week for 45 min(achievable), including one long weekend ride per week (realistic) for the next two months (timely). By writing detailed goals â€"in all areas of life whether for self, work, relationships, or fitness - one can strive more determinedly to ensure that these aspirations are achieved.
