Mhlathuze Water has brought on board 49 university and TVET graduates as part of the local utility's Learnership, Internship, Amanzi Bursary and Artisan Development Programme.

They were formally welcomed last week by Chief Executive Mthokozisi Duze. He said the main objectives of the programmes are to expose graduates and learners to particular professions.

“Students often have the theoretical knowledge of a job or profession, but lack the practical experience. The programmes are designed to assist these students in acquiring practical skills and experiences in their chosen careers.”

“Youth development is a key priority at Mhlathuze Water, therefore we are excited to commit to these programmes that will benefit the students in gaining meaningful work experience.”

The interns have been placed in various departments within the organisation, including operations, engineering services, finance, scientific services, corporate services and executive management.
