The Durban Chamber and Transnet Pipelines embarked on a threeyear partnership around enterprise and supplier development to accelerate the economic participation of previously disadvantaged target groups which fall within the SME category. In three years, 60 SMMEs have participated with 10 mentors. This group of SMMEs range from companies in engineering, health and safety, construction, waste management, professional services and specialised supplies. The key focus areas of the mentorship programme were for SMMEs to access markets, understand the strategy, operations and systems as well as personal development and soft skills.

Our SMME desk is open every day of the business week for business owners seeking consultation and business advice. In 2018 alone, our Enterprise Development department consulted with 112 business owners.
