News Brief: Payroll Management
The South Africa Revenue Service from this year (2010) onwards requires companies to submit biannual PAYE, SDL, and UIF Reconciliations.
It has been normal for companies to provide to the SARS this information on an annual basis in the form of EMP 501 Returns and employee IRP5's. The SARS, however, now requires companies to provide tax certificates and employer reconciliations for their staff during the period 1st September to 31 October, and at the end of the employee tax period (1st March - 30th April 2010). The mid year reconciliation is preferred in the form of a timeous electronic submission. However, timeous manual submissions are also acceptable at this point.
