TIKZN invites Foreign Economic Representatives to KZN

In keeping with its mandate, Trade & Investment KZN (TIKZN) scheduled a comprehensive programme to promote the province of KwaZulu-Natal to 14 delegates.

The 14 delegates are Foreign Economic Representatives who have been trained by the Department of Trade & Industry in Pretoria and are now being dispatched to various countries. They visited the Province of KwaZulu-Natal from 23 to 24 May 2011.

The programme kicked off  with a business presentation at TIKZN offices in Durban. Presentations focused on investment, business and tourism within KwaZulu-Natal. Speakers included:

Lester Bouah (Investment Promotion General Manager-TIKZN) on Investment Promotion in KZN;
Nkosana Sifumba (Knowledge Management General Manager - TIKZN) on the newly launched Investment Protocol Handbook compiled by TIKZN;

Pinky Radebe (Tourism KZN) on Tourism in KwaZulu-Natal;

Manoj Nathoo (KwaZulu-Natal Growth Fund) on the KZN Growth Fund as an initiative aimed at creating sustainable economic development, job creation and broad based black economic empowerment;

Mr Mzwakhe Lubisi (Richards Bay IDZ) on investment and business opportunities in Richards Bay.

Members of the delegation were introduced through business to business meetings to promote and encourage potential business opportunities in KwaZulu-Natal and South Africa as a whole. The visitation included meeting local companies, joint venture partners and financial and government support services in the province.

Some of the key stakeholders who met with the delegation included The Department of Intergovernmental Relations, Enterprise Ilembe, eThekwini Municipality, DIPA, Smart Exchange and CEDARA Agri College.
