NPOs encouraged to submit applications for funding

Non-profit organisations are encouraged to submit their applications for the grants in aid funding.  The eThekwini Municipality provides financial and material assistance to civil society organisations that seek support for initiating and sustaining socio-economic, cultural and sporting development programmes, especially from the previously disadvantaged communities. This forms part of the municipality’s integrated development plan and social investment.

Applications for grantsâ€"inâ€"aid are invited from civil society organisations that are working to improve the quality of life of people within the eThekwini Municipal area. The following types of non-profit organisations may apply: Early Childhood Development, Social Welfare, Sports, Culture and Recreation and Economic Development.

Applications on the prescribed form must reach any regional/ Sizakala centre office on or before June 30,  2016. Ensure that all required documentation is attached and that the acknowledgement of receipt attached to your application is duly completed and handed to you upon your submission. Faith based organisations, political organisations and co-operatives are excluded in this instance. Also, organisations that have benefitted on the GIA Programme in the last two years will not be considered.
