For KwaZulu-Natal based companies wanting to compete in the world arena, the establishment of Export Week KZN is just what the doctor has ordered. Export Week KZN will highlight and support the efforts of exporters as well as many other service providers based in KwaZulu-Natal. Export Week KZN has been developed to help meet the critical educational and mentoring needs of KZN SMEs engaged in international trade.

“Trade & Investment KwaZulu-Natal (TIKZN), under the auspices of the Department of Economic Development and Tourism, will proudly host the event from 29 -31 October 2012”, announced Neville Matjie, TIKZN GM: Export Development & Promotion at the East Coast Radio/Trade & Investment KZN GIBS Executive Breakfast this morning.

Export Week KZN will become an annual programme of TIKZN that will develop to recognize, promote and assist with growing KwaZulu-Natal’s export businesses and industries. Through a comprehensive programme of activities, it will provide professional development and information on growth sectors and market opportunities to KwaZulu-Natal’s new and existing exporters and internationally focused businesses. The three day event will highlight the significance of exporting from the KwaZulu-Natal economy and aims to celebrate the success of KZN exporters. This will be done through scheduled events, which will be work shopped by organisations who regularly host international trade-themed events.

“It is the intention of TIKZN, for Export Week KZN to be filled with information sessions
and networking, an export business summit and capped off with the Durban Chamber’s
Exporter Awards Gala Dinner”, said Mr Zamo Gwala, CEO of Trade & Investment KwaZulu-Natal. “Export Week KZN will showcase KwaZulu-Natal firms and entrepreneurs, and strive towards encouraging the production of higher quality goods and first class services at lower prices”, concluded Gwala.
