BUMPER HOLIDAY SEASON AS THE FUN KEEPS COMING!

2012-02-23

Moses Mabhida Stadium had a busy summer holiday season with loads of holidaymakers and locals enjoying the adventure attractions and variety of sporting and music events over December and January.

More than 22 000 people took a ride on the SKyCar â€" still the most popular attraction â€" and over 3000 took a behind the scenes look inside the award-winning stadium. Fun Segway gliding tours have gone down very well with the public and could be seen buzzing around the stadium and People’s Park non-stop as did the heliflips to the harbour and back.

The Big Swing has its best summer season to date and several of the shops also had record takings â€" STS Sports, Nino’s, Cuba Lounge and the Moses Mabhida Stadium Visitor Centre which sells memorabilia.

Soccer fans were well catered for with the Telkom Knockout semi-final and final being won by Durban and attracting crowds of 52 000 to each match. AmaZulu faced off against Kaizer Chiefs in the last match of the season and drew 40 000 fans. The Vodacom Unlimited Festival and MTN Fact Durban Rocks concerts attracted 5000 people each.

There is plenty more to look forward to in 2012 with the first I Heart Market of the year on Saturday 4 February from 9am to 2 pm and Premier Soccer League matches resuming in February with AmaZulu up against Mamelodi Sundowns on Tuesday 15 February at 7.30pm.
