Originally a farmhouse on a sugarcane plantation, the main hotel building dates back to the 1890's. Driven by the Jefferys' love for entertaining guests, the farmhouse on the edge of Oribi Gorge soon evolved into a quaint little hotel, boasting the very essence of old-world hospitality. Although the hotel has undergone major changes in the last decade, some things will never change... You will always be greeted with a heart-warming smile!

Inspired by the old world ambience, the décor and style of this splendidly restored old building, dating back to the 1890s, will enchant you. Settle down to a delightful meal in the indoor or outdoor restaurant, and experience languid living in Oribi Gorge. Lounge beneath the ancient wild fig tree in a milieu of birdsong and flowering shrubs at the Wild Fig Cafe and Lunch Terrace. Whether you fancy a crunchy salad, a crisp chicken baguette or a superbly grilled rump... the menu is filled with delightful treats. Lavish the fresh air and heady flavours of flowers and fine food.

The Silver Oak Bar and Cigar Lounge is ideal for entertaining guests, and is perfect for those cozy winter evenings with friends, soaking up the delicious warmth of a traditional wood fire.

Groups & Functions

Meals can make or break a conference or team-build! We are proud of our kitchen, and continually receive raving reviews about our meals. Menus range from splendid carvery buffets to simple pasta & pizza parties under the Wild Fig tree, followed by a dip in the pool.

Special dietary requirements will be taken into account by prior arrangement. A copy of the Halaal certificate can be forwarded for you perusal, if required.

Refreshment breaks
We serve pure Arabica coffee, roasted on the next door farm (Echo Valley)! Coffee breaks during conferences have never tasted better. We vary the refreshment break venues for your delegates, and serve a selection of sweet treats such as freshly baked jam scones, cupcakes, muffins & pastries under the trees when the weather is fine.

Echo Valley Coffee also offers guided tours, if your delegates are interested (plus minus 45 min).

The Oribi Gorge - a place of echoes - was created over millions of years as the Umzimkhulwana river carved its way over flat rock, finding faults in the stone and eroding enormously deep and narrow gorges. At the base of the cliffs there are rocks that are over 100 million years old.

The above sites are all located on the Oribi Gorge Hotel property. All sites are accessible by dirt road, with the exception of the Heads, which can be accessed on horseback.

Wedding Garden Ceremony

The idyllic garden setting lends itself to garden ceremonies. Walk down a red carpet rolled out over the lawn, beneath a canopy of sunshine and ancient trees. Say your vows beneath an arch draped with satin & flesh flowers...

In the event of poor weather, your ceremony can be conducted in one of our well appointed conference rooms. For large ceremonies (exceeding 120 guests) we make use of a draped, white marquee.

In the event that you are not affiliated with a local church, a minister or magistrate can be booked to conduct the ceremony.
