Johannesburg, Monday 21 October 2013 â€" The South African Institute of Chartered Accountants (SAICA) is deeply saddened to learn of the untimely passing of its member Mr Lawrence Moepi, the Director of Forensic Services at SizweNtsalubaGobodo, on Friday, 18^th October 2013. 

The Chief Executive Officer of SAICA Mr Matsobane Matlwa said: “On behalf of the management and staff of SAICA I wish to convey our sincere condolences to the family and work colleagues of our member, Mr Lawrence Moepi. 

“The Institute, on behalf of the Chartered Accountancy profession deeply regrets the unfortunate event which prematurely took the life of one of our esteemed members. I have offered the Institute’s support to the management of SizweNtsalubaGobodo in addressing the circumstances behind this occurrence.”

 Mr Matlwa said the Chartered Accountancy profession condemns the violent nature of this incident and believes that the violence which seems to have become the norm in South Africa requires critical attention by the leadership of all concerned stakeholders of civic society in South Africa.
