The Association for the Aged (Tafta), which is dedicated to the wellbeing of KwaZulu-Natal’s elderly, has ranked among the province’s leading business brands.

This is according to the preliminary results of the Standard Bank KZN Top Business Awards, which recognises businesses and organisations that promote economic growth within the province through their business practices.

Tafta has claimed a spot ahead of more than 600 local brands in the annual competition, which is determined by an online public poll.

Tafta, which is currently the only non-profit organisation featured among the competition’s leading contenders, has garnered growing public recognition since voting commenced last month. 

“We are delighted by Tafta’s showing in this widely-recognised competition. Being acknowledged among the best brands in the province is an incredibly powerful affirmation of the value of Tafta’s work especially because the results are based on the publics’ views," says Tafta CEO Femada Shamam.

“Such rankings reflect the solid reputation and recognition that the brand has cemented through more than 5 decades of dedicated service to elderly,” she added.

Shamam encouraged the public to show their support for Tafta by casting their vote.

According to KZN Top Business, the awards are a prestigious platform to celebrate the successful companies and organisations that operate in KwaZulu-Natal. 

"The KZN Top Business Awards are open to entry from companies and organisations in both the private and public sectors demonstrating excellence in business practices that promote economic growth in KwaZulu-Natal," said Grant Adlam, co-publisher of the KwaZulu-Natal Top Business Portfolio.
